Houston film festival to benefit low income children in the arts

By Festival Spotlight

The BAYOU CITY INSPIRATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (BCIFF) exists to provide a viable platform for independent filmmakers from around the world to showcase inspirational, educational, and positive works, August 7 to 9, 2008.

BCIFF seeks films, music videos, and TV pilots that display positive morals, values, and relationships, offer hope or encouragement, and educate and enlighten audiences.

The 2008 Festival will present three exciting days of film screenings, workshops, seminars, filmmaker interviews, industry mixers, and youth forums. The Festival kicks off with a Texas-style opening night extravaganza featuring a lavish Texas buffet, and closes with an awards banquet.

The Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival’s mission is to increase awareness surrounding the variety of educational, inspirational and positive works available and the need to integrate more of these works into society, and to provide scholarships to assist children and youth in Houston and surrounding areas in furthering their arts education.

The Festival will present awards to winners in each category as well as recognize 2008′s Inspirational Excellence Trendsetter and Trailblazer Award recipients. Confirmed guests and speakers include Houston TV personality and producer, Darian Ward; celebrity entertainment lawyer Leslie Cross Jr.; BET’s Abiola Abrams; and celebrity publicist Phyllis Caddell.

Proceeds from the Festival will go towards the SHOCK Arts Children & Youth Arts & Wellness Program, to aid low income children and youth in the Houston area. SHOCK provides arts awareness, education and training for youth, to provide a positive alternative to the negative options in their environment.
