Hendrix vodka recalled from liquor stores
By Janice Simeone
Jimi Hendrix Electric Vodka has run into some crosstown traffic. Sales of the liquor came to a screeching halt yesterday when US District Judge Thomas Zilly ordered the vodka to stop being marketed.
Craig Dieffenbach, owner of Electric Vodka, did not have permission to use the legendary guitarist name or image. The premium vodka was handmade in Rigby Idaho using a blend of rye & corn. Dieffenbach was ordered to pay $3.2 million dollars in damages for infringing on the trademark.
Local Northwest Hendrix freaks scoured the liquor stores in Idaho to grab a bottle of the forbidden drink before it was sold out. Washington had their shelves cleared well before customers had the chance to purchase the sought after prize. Price tags have already double in just one day from $5.00 to $10 for a mini and $25 to $58 for a fifth.
Legendary psychedelic rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix was 27 years old when he died in 1970.
