The 5th annual Kinderhaven Festival of Trees was kicked off with Family Night on Thursday, Dec 3, 2009 at The Events Center in Sandpoint, Idaho. It continued on Friday with The Holiday Luncheon catered by Ivano's Ristorante and a no host bar by A & P Bar & Grill. Table top trees & goody filled baskets were bid on in a silent auction during lunch. As the hot coffee & chocolate walnut dessert was served, the live auction began. The Sandpoint Teen Center & Mrs. Dash's 1st grade class at Farmin Stidwell were among the beautifully decorated trees available at the auction.
Kinderhaven's President Kim Diercks thanked the many people who have supported them over the years. The organization was started by Marsha Ogilvie and is currently under the direction of Phyllis Horvath. Kinderhaven is a community organization dedicated to supporting children in crisis. Over 1,300 children have passed through their doors since they opened. The Festival of Trees is Kinderhaven's only fund raiser.
The Gala Benefit Dinner will take place Saturday evening at 5:30 P.M. also at The Events Center. Spectacular trees decorated and donated by the community will be up for auction during the extravaganza. This years event is dedicated to the memory of Hazel Hall, longtime Kinderhaven supporter.
