The second annual Salmon Nation Dinner event is coming to Hill's Restaurant & Lounge at 401 W Main Ave in downtown Spokane, Wednesday, September 24 starting at 6:30pm for reception and drinks followed by dinner at 7pm. The goal of the event is to help ensure wheat and wild salmon for future generations.
The "Wheat, Wine & Wild Salmon" presentation will feature Washington commercial fishermen and wheat farmers talking about the value of wheat and wild salmon to our region and the opportunities for restoring wild Snake River salmon while protecting the livelihoods of both eastern Washington farmers and fishing communities. Bill Matt, Sr. of the Spokane Tribe will talk about the local history of wild salmon and their cultural significance to the tribe and to the region.
Dinner will be produced by Chef David Hill, featuring sustainably-caught wild salmon, eastern Washington wheat and produce grown locally. The sockeye salmon is harvested in a reef-net fishery, a traditional fishing method known for high quality fish and "recently boarded to the Slow Food Ark of Taste" to encourage its preservation. The menu also includes locally grown heirloom vegetables boarded on the Slow Food Ark and wine from Townshend Cellars.
The multi-course meal runs $45 per person and includes the first glass of Townshend wine or Wild Salmon Pale Ale.
Cocktail hour is presented by Dry Fly Distillery Gin and Vodka from Dry Fly owner Don Poffenroth and will feature the Wild Salmon Martini. A limited raffle will feature items from Urban Canine, a professional masseuse and local eateries.
