Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, announced she would step down before the end of the month, citing a desire to affect change outside of government. The former vice presidential candidate will resign July 26, according to The Associated Press.
She did not explain her decision to step down, but her announcement raised speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated later this month.
