Artists sought for Spokane convention center art project

The Public Facilities District Board (PFD) and Spokane Arts Committee will commission an artist or artist team to create a work to enhance the site improvements at the Spokane Convention Center for several indoor locations. The Budget: Artist/artist team will be paid for THE DESIGN PHASE OF THE PROJECT. Following artist selection a scope of work will be developed with the artist/artist team, design team, and the community members. UPDATE: Spokane law enforcement save man in attempted suicide incident

A few minutes before noon Saturday, a couple walking their dog approached a truck parked in the trees near Nevada and Magnesium after noting it had been parked with the engine running for more than an hour and a half. When the husband opened the door, he surprised a bloody male seated behind the wheel. The man jerked the door on the Dodge pickup closed and the couple backed off and called 911. They reported that the man had had a hose running from his exhaust into the truck’s cab, but saw no weapon to explain the blood. Spokane bank robbery suspect arrested

Spokane Police responded to a bank robbery at Banner Bank located at 508 W 3rd on 1/6/12 at 5:23 pm. Officers were in the area within minutes and started looking for the suspect who fled the bank after getting an unknown amount of money. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, grey shaggy hair, approximately 5’5″ and stocky build, wearing a black “puffy” coat. Officers located a male matching the description near 3rd and Lincoln. When officers started talking to the male he put his hands in the air and said “I did it” while holding cash in his hand. Spokane police and sheriff’s deputies to appear on COPS TV show

Spokane Police are featured in Saturday’s episode of COPS, airing at 8pm on FOX. The episode highlights Ofc. Elina Bishop and Ofc. John Arredondo investigating a report of two people engaged in lewd conduct on a stranger’s front lawn in northeast Spokane in August of 2011. Along with SPD, COPS follows the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Des Moines, Iowa Police Department. Early morning pursuit results in arrest of wanted felon

Spokane Valley Police Officers arrested Joshua G. Garvin, 27, for several felonies including a felony warrant and they recovered the reported stolen vehicle he was driving after a short vehicle pursuit which ended in the area of Sprague and Willow. At approximately 4:30am while checking the area of a vehicle prowling call, Officer Nathan Bohanek observed a 1990 Honda Accord and ran a check of the vehicle’s license plate. He was notified the vehicle was reported stolen on January 3, 2012. Spokane fugitive arrested

Spokane Police Patrol Anti Crime Team (PACT), with the US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, Border Patrol Air Support and detectives from the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22 year old fugitive Chase Earl-West this afternoon near Addy, Washington. SPD Officers attempted to arrest Earl-West for a felony warrant on December 12, 2011, at the Randolph Arms Apartments near the Spokane Falls Community College. Earl-West met officers inside the building, pointed a gun at them, and then ran. Police later determined Earl-West was able to escape during the night and hide in a nearby garage. Carjacking suspect caught in 16 minutes

Spokane Police responded to the victim of a carjacking in the Northern Lights Brewery parking lot in the area of Hamilton and Trent at 9:48 pm on 12-30-11.  The victim stated a male approached her and racked a pistol grip shotgun at her and demanded her keys.  The victim pled with the suspect to get her 10 day old baby out of the back seat.  She was allowed to get the baby out and the suspect took off in her car. Rave organizer arrested for 2nd degree rape

Jayme A Cozzetto was arrested at 6425 N Ligerwood at the “Epicenter” event facility tonight.  Spokane Police were made aware of a complaint that was brought forward by a female that alleged that Cozzetto sexually assaulted her.  After the investigation police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for 2nd Degree Rape.  The complaint alleged that Cozzetto was giving under age females alcohol at the Epicenter during “All Ages Parties” and Rave type parties. Two fisted knife wielder subdued by Spokane police

Just before 6:00pm on 12/29/2011, several calls came into 911 about a male brandishing a knife and threatening people at an apartment complex in the 2300 block of E. Euclid. The male was later identified as 53-year-old Scott E. Leiper. Leiper was involved a domestic violence assault with his wife just prior to the calls coming in. When officers arrived on scene, Leiper had two large kitchen knives in his hands. He attempted to kick in a door to an apartment and refused to obey the commands of the officers. Officer responding to alarm interrupts burglary

On 12/27/2011 at about 0144 hrs, Ofc P. Buchmann responded to an alarm at the Washington Trust Bank’s ATM at 4500 S Regal. As Ofc Buchmann pulled up he saw two males by the ATM and one was doing something at the building. They saw him and took off running to the east. Ofc Buchmann checked the ATM building and discovered it had been burglarized. Seven minutes later when back up arrived, they began searching for the suspects.
